Hi there. I am Toria from New Zealand. I have Cerebral Palsy and so I live a different kind of life than many other people in my community. When I was very young, the doctors did not
expect me to live past the age of 12.Yet I am now 68 years of age. During my first ten years, I spent most of my time in hospital, and only spent short periods of time at home with my family. In hospital, I learned to walk and become independent enough, that
I could live at home permanently.
My life journey has been both full and rich, with good times and
bad times. Sometimes I haven't been able to see the big picture and at other times, I have taken totally the wrong path. Yet I can see the hand of God, with his wisdom and his direction that has led me this far.
In 1981, I had a heart attack. I died, but was brought back to life by my friends. While on my journey to heaven, I was instructed to return as there was something that l needed to do. I was so intrigued and anxious
to know what that "something" might be, that I wanted to come back. As soon as I was able to breathe again, I wanted to go outside and smell the flowers. Yes, I had a new appreciation of the many things in life that we often take for granted. I was
also determined to live life to the full and do new things.
In 1996, I went to Waikato University and
gained an Honors Degree in History and Spanish Language and in 2014, I wrote and published my first novel, The Chrysalis - Robin's Story.
